Day of Service

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A day of fishing for children and adults with special needs sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fort Myers and Naples.

This event was part of a larger day of service sponsored by 96 Mormon stakes in the Southeast, with more than 400,000 members of the church living in 11 states invited to participate in similar events.

We were able to participate in our Stake's - Day of Service. We participated at Sugden Park in Naples, FL. It was fun to see old friends from other wards and to make new friends with the participants. It is always so rewarding to be a part of something meaningful!

John, Riley and Austin were assigned to help do the real fishing - however before they even got started they had to 'fish' Sister Fisher out of quick- sand- like mud as she was attempting to participate by being on litter patrol!

Others of us on 'litter' patrol.

Just a few other fun photos of this event.

Macey's 8th Birthday

Macey's 8th birthday was April 11, 2009 and her birthday request was to hug an alligator. So off we went to the Everglades to do just that.

We continued on from there out farther in the Everglades to Shark Valley to do a little biking along a path that provides close-up exposure to - you guessed it - more alligators.

We didn't have near enough time there as we had to get Austin back to work. We will have to return another day. The path is actually a 15 mile loop you can bike around.

Swimm'in With Our Clothes On!

Went for a walk as a family and everyone was a little warm. But just because its hot & humid doesn't mean the pool is toasty warm. Everyone ended up out back to check out the water's temperature. John and Austin started the chain reaction by trying to wrestle each other into the pool - they both ended up in it, then I snuck up and pushed Parker in and Macey was eager to follow. I alone survived!!! (They were just being nice to mom)!

Parker was not a happy camper at first but by the time the shock had worn off - fun times were had by all.
